In my bog oak sculptures, I endeavour to coax out the unique art form which is already there, and is awaiting to be released and set free from its long slumber of silence.
I want to awaken a connection to the wonderful world of nature and what lay under the ground in the bogs of Ireland for thousands of years.
During the working process, I stand in contemplation and reflection before the wood and try to visualise the hidden and surprising forms encased there. This is a time consuming process to find out what this piece of ancient wood requires of me in order to bring it to another state of living.
